Digital Aid for a digital life
I recently found myself with more free time after finishing my role and a career of public service. I want to share my experience from several decades leading data and information systems and delivering complex IT enabled programs. I am also a father of four who values being productive and believes personal privacy is important. More and more we need to think about ethics and the type of society that we want to live in.
I will share my knowledge and experience to help others understand the benefits of digital transformation and to manage the risks involved.
- Many parents want to know how to protect their children online and I will offer suggestions for that
- We should all consider our personal privacy online and I can share my experience with that
- Small businesses and community based organisations will need to embrace cybersecurity and adopt cloud to support their business
Of course my sons are into gaming and I have been teaching them how to upgrade and optimise their setup for a better gaming experience. When I started online gaming with my boys I was careful to always provide a positive, respectful role model and encourage our clan to help others. You might be interested in this and have something to share yourself.
I recently completed a Masters of Commerce and studied cloud computing, security, IT operations and risk analysis and forecasting along with strategy, economics and ethics. These are all topics that are part of our digital lives every day as well as work. It’s almost 20 years after I finished my first Masters in IT and so much has changed since then. At the start of the millennium I was developing innovative Internet information systems for decision making. This was great because we could make analytics and data science applications publicly available.
As an information systems professional I have not always shared my knowledge and expertise publicly. I’ve published scientific papers and given professional seminars but these aren’t available to everyone and times have changed. I hope that you will learn something from this blog and leave positive feedback to encourage others. In this way I hope we can help make the Internet better for everyone and benefit from the digital transformation that is taking place in all off our lives.
